We visited Upper Stony Creek wetlands in Sunshine North on 26 October 2026. It was a lovely place to stop on our ride, with open water, planted wetland edges and waterbirds to watch.
The project transformed a retarding basin beside Stony Creek into wetlands, with native planting and walking paths. The original concrete channel remains.

A Fantastic Ride
We loved the ride beside Upper Stony Creek, also labelled Anderson Road Diversion Drain on maps, and its connection to the Western Ring Road Trail. The shared-path network links with the Kororoit Creek Trail, making this a fantastic way to explore local waterways by bike.

The Same Care for Duke Street
The wetlands and the restored creek near Cruickshank Park show what investment in habitat and public access can achieve. We want comparable care for Stony Creek at Duke Street, between Matthews Hill and Braybrook Grassland, where we have documented litter and poor conditions.
