What We Do

All Kids Junior Landcare is a youth-led group that grows and donates native seeds and plants.

Our work is hands-on, long-term and in-depth. We collect seed from the plants we grow, raise native plants over time, and share them with nurseries, schools, families, community gardens and local habitat projects.

We grow a range of indigenous plants, from easier propagate species to plants that take more time and care. Wild Geranium can give a quicker reward, while Golden Billy Buttons can suit those who want more of a challenge and the satisfaction that comes with it. We also grow Geranium sp. 1, a critically endangered plant in Victoria, giving young people the chance to care for something rare and important while building confidence through hands-on work.

By growing and sharing indigenous plants, we help create small patches of habitat for insects, birds and other wildlife, while giving young people hands-on ways to care for nature.

Activities

Want to Help Nature?

There are lots of ways to get involved.

You can join us for Young Stewards of Iramoo.

You can also volunteer with groups such as Friends of Maribyrnong Valley, Iramoo Grassland Centre and Nursery at Victoria University, Friends of Merri Creek, Stony Creek Waterwatch, or Brunswick Communities for Nature.

For ideas on what families and schools can do with these at home, see Junior Landcare’s Creating a wildlife habitat: planting and Creating a beneficial garden: planting.
